Dan-O is a writer and a poet and a blogger, a loud funny man with out of control sideburns. Five of his favorite hip hop albums of all time in no particular order are listed below.
Wu-Tang-Enter the 36 Chambers
Outkast-ATLiens
Gangstarr-Moment of Truth
Big Pun-Capital Punishment
Ice Cube-Predator
This list is not surprising or that different in that it pays respect to the Wu-tang and Dungeon Family movements. Each values the lyricism and excellence of production it takes to produce an all time great album. Big Pun in his debut form as the pinnacle balance of underground 16 bar density and catchy radio friendly pop. Gangstarr, Pete Rock and CL Smooth represent similar movements in a NY rap scene that mixed gun talk with spirituality and social community obligations. Both albums sound personal instrumentally and verbally.
