I love discovering artists who are a world unto themselves. On his new album Fortune Favors The Bold Bloodblixing pushes himself further into his own world than he ever has. On 96 Burnside Ave he declares that he’ll keep making music even if it don’t sell and that’s the truth. These are the grooves beating within him, driven so purely into his projects that some of the best rappers in the underground show up and show out on guest features. Q-       You have said (and I agree) that Fortune Favors The Bold is your favorite release. What elements came together to make it that way?

A- ITS BECAUSE SOME OF THE BEATS ARE AMONG MY FAVORITE AND THE VERSES GAVE OFF A DIFFERENT TYPE OF ENERGY NOT SEEN ON PRETTY MUCH ANY OF MY OTHER TAPES. ONE OF THE TRACKS WAS VERY PERSONAL AND I DONT USUALLY DO SHIT LIKE THAT. AND THE PROCESS WORKING WITH SLAYTON DIXON , BLOODMONEY AND MANSDEM AND LYNC WAS UNDENIABLE. 

Q-     Your release schedule is bewildering! You produce and rap on most of your projects as well. What is your process for starting and finishing a project? How do you determine theme and direction? How do you know it’s done?

A- I ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE THE COVER FIRST. WITHOUT THE COVER I DONT START THE PROJECT AT ALL. THEN ITS THE BEATS THEY HAVE TO BE PUMPING AND INSPIRE ME FOR ME TO EVEN CONSIDER IT. CAUSE I DONT RAP TO BEATS UNLESS THEY MOVE ME SOME TYPE OF WAY. A WAY THAT HAS ME FEELING LIKE THE EARLY 2002 NYC SHIT. NAH MEAN. THE THEME COMES FROM THE COVER ART LOL. AND I BASE THE MUSIC OFF THAT. AND THE LAST THING IS SEQUENCING. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS MAKING SURE THAT THEY ARE IN THE RIGHT ORDER BECAUSE THAT CAN REALLY DERAIL A ALBUM/EP.

Q-  Iceberg Theory snaps on Star of David and Bloodmoney Perez burns down three of the ten tracks. Those relationships have deepened over projects and they really do excellent work over your production. How has the comfort level benefited the musical outcome?

A-YEAH ICEBERG WAS RANDOM I THINK AUGUST FANON SENT ME A TAPE OF THEM AND IT WAS OFF PUTTING AT FIRST THEN I WAS LIKE YO DUDE KINDA NICE NAH MEAN. I HIT EM UP THEN I WAS LIKE YO WE SHOULD LIKE DO A TAPE TOGETHER. AND HE WAS WIT IT. I SENT OVER A CRAZY PACK OF BEATS AND HE JUST RAPPED ON EVERY BEAT IN THE PACK. THEN OVER TIME GETTING TO KNOW HIM. ASKING FOR FEATURES AND SHIT NOTICING HIS VERSES WERE GOLD AND ALWAYS VITAL. BLOODMONEY THO JUST RECENTLY WE STARTED TO BUILD ALIL BIT. NAH MEAN. WE GOT ALIL SOMETHING IN THE WORKS, AND HES JUST LIKE REAL DOPE AND REAL REAL. ALWAYS GIVING ME FEEDBACK AND IM WIT IT ALWAYS YA FEEL ME.

Q- The surprise contributors on Fortune Favors The Bold are Slayton Dixon and Mansdem. They appear on six of the ten songs. Are these long time contributors(I know Mansdem was on AKM: Yugoslavia Edition) or new additions? How did they come into the mix?

A-YO SLAYTON DIXON IS THE HOMIE MAN. HE PROBABLY IS ONE OF THE BEST RAPPERS IKNOW EVER. WE MADE A TAPE CALLED DIRTZ HE WROTE ALL THEM SONGS IN ONE SESSION IN LIKE 3 HOURS HE REALLY THE GOAT. WE GO WAYYYYY BACK FOREAL MAN. HE’LL COME THRU BE LIKE WHAT U WORKING ON THEN PICK BEATS AND WE RAPP ON EM. EASY. TOO EASY. WE CREATED CLASSIC OVERALL GREAT FEEL FOREAL. MANSDEM WE STARTED WORKING AFTER I LOOK UP MY NAME IN TWEETS AND HE SAID HE WANNA RAP ON BLIX BEAT SO I HIT HIM UP AND HE MADE THE TRACK ON AKM. WE ALSO DID SWAPMEET WHICH I KNEW HE WAS REALLY NICE. SO IT WAS ONLY RIGHT FOR ME TO GET HIM FOR THE TAPE FORTUNE FAVORS THE BOLD. 

Q-   You produce these projects, if you could have any producer handle the beats and leave you in front of the microphone, who would that be? 

A- DREAM WOULD BE ALCHEMIST HE THE REASON I STARTED MAKING BEATS YA FEEL ME. OR SADHUGOLD FOREAL. HE LIKE IN MY TOP 5 OF ALL TIME NO KAP. OR PIERRE BORNE HE NASTY WIT IT TOO LEGENDARY YEAH THATS IT.
